XXivpp + 569 pages + 9 engraved plates. Original dark green short grained cloth with titles in gilt on cover and spine, Lacks FFEP (front free endpaper) spine holed at front edge and cloth handled and rubbed, some pages are a little lightly spotted at edges and margins, the plates are foxed also, not severely. The contents also shaken. All collated. Small octavo (bound in 8's). A Good copy only. *NOTE: With this book was found an early 19th century watercolour and ink drawing of an Oxen with the "method of cutting up an Ox by the London Butcher". Earlier than the date of the book of 1845. Loosely inserted as found. *The author first published this work in 1806, she died in 1828. The book was an immediate success and she was dubbed "The Domestic Goddess" (the first). This 68th edition has new recipes by Emma Roberts an early writer on travel and women's roles. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
