The author also shows her opinion that housewives should have all of the mechanics needed to run a proper household, such as education and independence.Notable entries including possibly the first recipe for tomato sauce, and the first recipe in print for Scotch eggs.Written by Maria Eliza Rundell, who was best known for this work. She is sometimes considered to be the original domestic goddess. She begun collecting her recipes, household tips, and herbal remedies, to send to her daughters once they got married. She sent this same collection to a family friend, who happened to be the publisher John Murray.The sixty-fifth edition of this work. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, worn. Backstrip is detached but present. Bumping to the extremities has resulted in some loss. Minor marks to the boards. Hinges are strained. Front endpaper is detached but present, lacking the front endpaper. Internally, binding is strained in places. Pages are a little age-toned with scattered spots. Title page is detached but present, pinned to the following leaf by a prior owner. Good Only.
