A New Testament History (Set Books / Open University) [Paperback] Filson, Floyd F.

We have here nothing less than a New Testament counterpart to John Bright' History of Israel. Professor Filson has made a name for himself this side of th Atlantic for sane, reverent scholarship. The main characteristic of this book is sanity; on every issue (and the book abounds in controversial issues) he adop an eminently sensible view (E. M. B. Green in the Church of England Newspaper). 'There will be many who teach and preach, as well as those concerned wit serious study. who will find this History exactly what they need to knit their knowledge together and to give that wholeness against which the study of details takes full meaning (Marcus Ward in The Expository Times). 'A standard work, which all theological students will have to read in their first yearand which they will read with enjoyment' (The Heythrop Journal). 'An unqualified success ... The book is well documented throughout for the benefit of those who wish to consult original sources or to pursue any of the many topics outlined in this masterly survey' (The Times Literary Supplement)
