About the Author

Italo Rota was born in 1953 in Milan and graduated from the Milan Polytechnic Institute 1982. In 1980 he created with Gea Aulenti the plans of the Musee d Orsay and the Centre Beaubourg in Paris. Working in France since 1981, Rota has won numerous architectural competitions, among them such internationally acclaimed projects as the new Hall of Painting at the Louvre. In 1990 he initiated the planning of the Center for Post-Graduate Studies at Columbia University. His most recent works include the redesign of the Via Garibaldi in Misano; the restoration of the Rocca Paolina; and the City Museum of Perugia. He also won the competition for the design of a new building for the Milan branch of Deutsche Bank.
