STANLEY NEWMAN is publishing director, puzzles and games, for Times Books, as well as crossword creator for People, Sport, and Business Week magazines. In 1996, Newman established, under Guinness Book conditions, the world's record for the fastest solution of a New York Times crossword---2 minutes, 14 seconds. He lives in Massapequa Park, New York.
DANIEL STARK is a professional crossword creator and editor whose work appears nationally in newspapers, books, and magazines. He lives in Cumberland, Wisconsin, with his puzzle collaborator and wife, Roslyn. Over the past 12 years, the Starks have created or edited over 10,000 crosswords.
