It names 113 places across 172 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries three casualty and personnel returns, one daily state of sick and wounded, 103 reports, narratives and plans, 175 Operation Orders, five appendices, eight maps and five diagrams. The diary opens at Bulford on 8 November 1915. 1915 is spent at Busnes, Mazinghem Mt Bernenchort Guarbecque Berguette, Bulford and Morbecque. 1916 is the most travelled year, 54 places against 36 in the next busiest, and is spent at Bethune, Billeting Area Round Busnes and Sailly-au-Bois. 1917 at Hamelincourt, Boeschepe, Adinfer Wood, Cavillon and Brandhoek. 1918 at Vogeltje, Ypres, Walincourt, Wisernes and Montigny. 1919 at Inval Boiron, Rieux, Varengeville, Etretat and Blangy. It closes at Havre on 27 July 1919. Bethune is where it spent longest, 197 days across eleven separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 95 days at Inval Boiron. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Adinfer Wood. In 1918 it is also recorded at Steenvoorde, Brandhoek, Hauteville, Caestre, Boeschepe, Abeele, Trois Rois, Winnezeele, 27/L 13 Cent and Vogeltje Convent 27/F 22 Cent. In 1919 it is also recorded at Hornoy, Quiberville Nr. Dieppe, St Marbuerites Quiberville Nr. Dieppe and Gamaches.
