New Zealand Travel Guide

This early attempt to produce an all-inclusive travel guide for both domestic and overseas visitors reflects much about NZ in the 1950s, at a time when tourism was becoming recognised as economically important. The opening section deals with NZ in general terms, its 16 subjects include topics ranging from history, population, climate, currency, culture, food and tipping. Section two covers travel by car, coach, rail, air and sea plus rules of the road, campaing/caravanning, accommodation. Section three deals with travel in both islands, plus major centres and attractions. The remaining seven sections deal with related travel topics. All in all a comprehensive travel information package. 144 pages including numerous b/w photos, intext sketches, maps, plus a number of full page travel related advertisements. Pictorial covers with red titles etc VG+ with light wear to spine edges, text block clean, bright and excellent.
