About the Author

Eileen Meslar was born and raised in the Chicago area. She lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for five years while attending Western Michigan University. After graduating with her BFA in Photography and Intermedia and a minor in Journalism from WMU, Meslar returned to her hometown and began photographing on a freelance basis. She currently holds a photography internship at the Chicago Reader and has contributed photos and stories to several other publications. In her spare time, she can be found at the scene of protests and marches in the city of Chicago, documenting free speech in action.
