About the Author

JAMES MALCOLM GILMORE is a veteran of more than 25 years of experience in the advertising agency business, rising to Vice President/Creative Director and member of the Board of Directors of Leo Burnett in Chicago and Detroit. At the age of 47, Jim decided to retire and become a freelance writer. He quit Burnett and moved to Santa Barbara. Two years later, Phil Donahue interviewed him on NBC's Today show. Donahue wanted to know why Jim gave up a high paying, highly successful advertising career to become a struggling freelance writer. Jim may have been struggling, but he was having fun. He sold his first mystery novel Dead Rite and published short stores in Alfred Hitchcock and Mike Shane mystery Magazines. He also wrote for Santa Barbara magazine and was one of the founders of Islands magazine. But freelance writing was not the profitable lifestyle it once was. After five years of struggling in Santa Barbara, he decided to get back into advertising and moved his family to Tokyo, joining Standard Advertising as the agency's International Creative Director. After five years in Tokyo, Jim made another major career change. He joined Michigan State University's College of Communication Arts and Sciences as Visiting Lecturer, teaching creative courses and mentoring students. His current title is Lecturer Emeritus. Contemporary Press, New York, published Jim's mystery novel, Dead Rite, in 2004. His comic novel, bythepeople.gov was published in hard cover and paperback in 2008, and by Kindle in 2010. His latest books are Your Private Eye, an anthology of his published Hitchcock mysteries and short stories now available on Kindle, and Red Bloom, a novel about a Russian plot to destroty the U. S. by turning it against itself. Jim has won many advertising and writing awards. He is a licensed pilot, IFR rated, with over 3,000 logged hours; and he is certified for open ocean scuba diving. He dedicates all his novels to his wife and four daughters.
