This is the very scarce second volume, following the facsimile of the same work's manuscript.Containing the complete six books of 'On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres', seminal work that details polymath Nicholas Copernicus' heliocentric theory. The theory offers an astronomical model that positions the Sun at the enter of the Universe, motionless, with Earth and the other planets orbiting around it in circular paths.Originally published in 1543, it offered an alternative to the widely accepted geocentric system promoted by Ptolemy. In the original cloth binding, with a coloured portrait tipped in to the front board. With the original unclipped dust wrapper (unpriced).
