Once there was a cat named Nicky who lived in an animal rescue shelter with many other cats. Some of the cats were friendly, some were frightened, and some were fierce. Every cat dreamed of being adopted, but suppose someone terrible adopted you? Suppose they didn't take care of you? Suppose you got lost or into trouble and taken back to the shelter? These were terrible thoughts. Every cat wanted to be adopted. But every cat was also scared of being adopted!
