Chris Berg and Paul James Smith started their law enforcement careers in California's bay area, for a time as beat partners. Both excelled in their agency and quickly promoted to detective grade, taking on specialized assignments in and outside of their agencies.
Chris' assignments included vice and intelligence, but it was his posting as an undercover narcotics detective that fit him best. He ultimately became a field training officer for undercover detectives and was a court-certified "expert witness" in narcotics and dangerous drug investigations throughout the west. Chris left law enforcement prematurely due to an on-duty injury and had a successful second career in corporate America.
Paul has a combined 31 years of law enforcement including assignments as a field training officer, SWAT, federal agent, Special Response Team member, sniper and sniper instructor, National Tactical Team leader, and Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force program manager.
After several years in civilian law enforcement, Paul joined the Coast Guard reserve in 1991, working his way up the officer ranks and serving four wartime deployments to the Persian Gulf.
