One Night Stands and Lesson Plans: Book 1 of the Marchfield Middle Series

In the close-knit town of Marchfield, where gossip spreads like wildfire and love is unpredictable, Audrey Fremont and Oz Taylor aren’t looking for a workplace romance.

No-nonsense English teacher Audrey Fremont is the complete opposite of Oz, the charming but disorganized Algebra instructor who has a knack for driving her crazy. When their instant chemistry leads to a one-night stand, school politics gets a whole lot more complicated. Between misunderstandings, rumors, and awkward trips to the principal’s office, sparks fly. But beneath the snarky remarks and side-eye glares, a simmering connection grows that neither can deny.

As they navigate the complexities of middle school, their own insecurities, and the growing attraction between them, Audrey and Oz are forced to face the fact that what they thought was a disaster might actually be the beginning of real love. With plenty of humor, a surprise confession in the copy room, and a few impromptu dance routines, they might just stumble into their happily-ever-after.

M. Jayne LaDow is a playwright and author who leapt into writing romance after spending thirty-three years wrangling middle school English students-a challenge comparable to herding caffeinated cats. Her hilarious teacher rom-coms draw from her years in education, where she regularly got pied in the face, belted out off-key classroom karaoke, and donned costumes to resemble book characters. Now retired, she lives with her incredibly patient husband who undoubtedly deserves a medal, two brilliant yet snarky children who keep her humble, and three rescue cats who think they own the place. They are joined by a free-range rabbit who dreams of world domination, a toe-biting tortoise, and a bearded dragon who judges M. Jayne's life choices from behind his glass enclosure.
