Nighttime Reading for Children

Ah, it's the end of a busy day. Were you at school or was this just a play day? The sun has set. Is the moon out tonight?

All your friends have gone home. Don't worry, you will get to see them tomorrow! You've been told no more TV for the night. (There wasn't much on anyway, was there?)

You've had your last snack. Was it good? You've washed your hands and face. (Well, at least your hands are clean.)

Your teeth are brushed. (You did brush, didn't you?) And now it's time for bed. Well . . . almost.

Because nighttime, just before sleep time, is the most wonderful time to read a story . . . or two . . . or three.

Maybe you are old enough to do all your own reading now. You will find short stories and long stories; funny poems and serious thoughts; exciting tales and silly nonsense to fill your dreams with wonderful adventures. We hope you enjoy reading every single word in this book.

If mom or dad is reading to you, make sure that they don't skip the good parts. If they are super tired and yawn a lot, you might have to tickle them to wake them up so they read with lots of enthusiasm and many different voices. (Tickling doesn't always work, but a lot of times it does.)

Whether you like your reading filled with adventure or humor, it's time to relax as you turn off all the lights in your room-except the one on your nightstand. That's the same place you will want to keep this book of wonder and fun.
