From Library Journal
In such an extensive directory, it is understandably difficult to be consistently creative in describing places and events. However, the Shankses not only overuse "interesting" and "very" but they write on a condescending and eighth-grade level in the 39-page overview. Though the authors omit Lake Jackson Mounds State Archaeological Site and place a museum in Miami Beach instead of Miami, Florida, for example, they do provide a wealth of information on over 900 places to observe past and/or present Indian culture. Ignore the preaching and use the guidebook as it was intended. Flawed but recommended. Susan Hamburger, Florida State Univ. Lib., Tallahassee
