Single sheet, 229 x 156mm, printed in colour, the Union Jack and the Royal Standard ("one flag one crown") supporting an oval candidate portrait in mono (an upstanding figure, with a fine moustache). Card slightly creased. "Mr. J.J.W. MILLER requests the honour of your support and vote". John James William Miller (1865-1918), born in Edinburgh, served as Land Agent to the Marquess of Salisbury, 1885-97, and was elected in 1894 the first Chairman of Hatfield Rural District Council. The Unionist Party was unlucky in the General Election of 1906. The Liberals won a landslide, their candidate securing the Hitchin seat for the first (and only) time. Julius Bertram was elected, by 4157 votes to Miller's 4081. Miller moved to Sussex. Seller Inventory # 15M100079
