Northern Ireland: A Problem for Every Solution

[From book cover:]

'It would be understandable for anyone to despair of ever finding a way to lasting peace in Northern Ireland. Every move seems to evoke a perverse intransigent response. One could say of the people of Northern Ireland that they can find "a problem to every solution".'

So beings the first chapter of Northern Ireland: A Problem to Every Solution. In this book Denis Barritt considers the attempts at a solution to the problem of Northern Ireland, especially over the last 20 years. He looks at the crisis of identity, the violence and the injustices that confront the people and side by side with those, the great potential for reconciliation and goodwill that in spite of everything still gives hope. In the final chapter he looks forward to the future and offers various models of government 'to channel constructive thought along lines which have some hope of achieving consensus.'
