The Northern Man With Southern Principles And The Southern Man With American Principles: Or A View Of The Comparative Claims Of William Harrison And Martin Van Buren

""The Northern Man With Southern Principles And The Southern Man With American Principles: Or A View Of The Comparative Claims Of William Harrison And Martin Van Buren"" is a political book written by the Republican Committee Of Seventy-Six. The book provides a comparative analysis of the two presidential candidates in the 1840 US presidential election - William Harrison and Martin Van Buren. The authors argue that Harrison, a Northern man with Southern principles, embodies the values of the American South, including a commitment to states' rights and limited federal government. In contrast, they contend that Van Buren, a Southern man with American principles, represents a more centralized government and a disregard for the rights of individual states. The book is an important artifact of American political history, offering insights into the political debates and ideologies of the mid-19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
