Armorial bookplate of Rich Randolph Parry on the front and rear paste downs. "Richard Randolph" printed name pasted down top of the title page. Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. Original red leather corner and spine. Bright gilt and decoration on spine. Marbled boards have a green title label rubbed and soiled to the extent that the title is not readable, although the publisher information is. Rubbed corners and edges. Front signatures loosening. Soiling on edges. Endpapers and text pages are heavily toned with foxing. Lower fore edge corners have a dark dampstain that does not extend into the print. Collated with all maps and plates present, with index and publications list at rear. A very early Northeastern travel guide containing entertaining and useful history. The lodging and transportation information tells travelers where to stay to hike Mt. Washington and toll rates on the Erie Canal.
