Set of 14 photographic prints depicting scenes from Montana. 11 photographs are mounted albumens. 9 of these 11 measure 7 ½" x 4 ¼" and depict Montana scenes, the other 2 mounts contain portraits of various unknown individuals and measure between 1" x 1" and 3" x 3". Three photographs are not mounted and measure between 3 ½" x 3 ½" and 7 ½" x 4 ½" and depict a scenic mountain view and Dillon, Montana street views. Albumens depicting Montana have manuscript titles on mounts. Photographer and publication information unknown. Likely published circa 1880s-1890s. Overall very good. Portraits and photos that are not mounted have moderate yellowing and soiling; mounted photos of Montana have light soiling to mount and photograph, and ghost image on verso of mounts from other photographs. Most of the images included in this set depict scenes around Avalanche Basin in Northwestern Montana, now located in Glacier National Park. An image of the Indian agent Joseph T. Carter's house on the Flathead Indian Reservation likely depicts the agent and his family posed on the porch of a large house. Carter was an agent on the Reservation in the 1890s. The scenes of the Avalanche Basin, Avalanche Lake and Monument Falls are stunning. Other images of note include that of Marent Trestle in Missoula, Montana on the Northern Pacific Railway Route, and a team of men painstakingly working a pulley system to move a wagon up a hill.
