Fynmore's copy, extra-illustrated and annotated with a substantial dossier of tipped-in newspaper cuttings, engravings, and manuscript notes spanning the 1830s?1950s. 3/4 leather over marbled boards; marbled endpapers. Condition. Front and rear joints cracked and fragile but boards holding; spine with losses to leather and title plates. Edges and corners rubbed with shelf wear. Internally secure and tight; mild foxing and toning throughout . Clippings, correspondence, and MS notes are clean, legible, and firmly affixed . Overall good . Provenance. R. J. Fynmore (the Folkestone antiquary and indefatigable contributor/reader of N&Q ), with his characteristic marginal foliation, subject headings, and cross-references.
