Condition. Front and rear joints cracked and fragile but boards holding; spine with losses to leather and title plates. Edges and corners rubbed with shelf wear. Internally secure and tight; mild foxing and toning throughout . Clippings, correspondence, and MS notes are clean, legible, and firmly affixed . Overall good . Provenance. R. J. Fynmore (the Folkestone antiquary and indefatigable contributor/reader of N&Q ), with his characteristic marginal foliation, subject headings, and cross-references. This copy functions as a working reference file?an "index rerum" in the best Victorian tradition?linking N&Q queries to primary press sources, local history, heraldic anecdotes, and London topography.
