Gideon Mantell's very scarce paper describing the Iguanodon, taken from vol. CXV of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. English obstetrician, geologist and palaeontologist Gideon Mantell was responsible for the discovery of the first fossil teeth, and much of the skeleton, of Iguanodon.He wrote this letter on the subject of the discovery in February 1825, addressed to Davies Gilbert of the Royal Society.The paper as it appears here is extracted from volume 115 of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London, 1825.Illustrated with one engraved plate, depicting the teeth of the Iguanodon.
