Now that I'm Old

Now That I'm Old is a tender, gently humorous picture book told through the voice of Charlie, the beloved Cairn Terrier mascot of Saint James School. Now sixteen years old, Charlie shares a new set of "rules for life" learned with age-rules about slowing down, forgiving easily, enjoying the warmth of the sun, and remembering that love, joy, and adventure never expire.

Through simple, heartfelt observations and charming illustrations, Charlie invites readers young and old to reflect on aging with grace, compassion, and curiosity. The book encourages intergenerational conversation, asking children to see older friends with empathy and respect, and reminding adults that wisdom often arrives wrapped in patience, naps, and treats.

Written by Episcopal priest and longtime educator Rev. Dr. D. Stuart Dunnan and illustrated by Ryan Scott, Now That I'm Old is both a tribute to a much-loved school mascot and a universal meditation on growing older-together.

Perfect for shared reading, classrooms, families, and anyone who has loved a dog or learned life's lessons slowly, one day at a time.
