Theanalysis is based on a synoptic investigation of structures, settlementsand landscape, always dialectically compared with the basicinterpretation concept of `romanization, that means non only theimperialistic military-political and cultural enforcement, but also theadherence to a new formulation of community life. In spite of the greatquantity of data, reflections and interpretations match together anunitary project: to show the importance of these settlements and thehistorical, archaeological and anthropological implications which aretransmitted all over the territory, proposing in this way a generalCisalpine interpretation model.In conclusion, this work offers an useful summary about thehistorical-archaeological context of extra-urban sanctuaries in theCisalpine as an important step in the knowledge not only of the ruralpopulation during the Roman age, but also of the phenomenon of culticand socio-political romanization all over a territory that goes from theAlps to the Apennines, from Piedmont to Istria.
