Numbers (Mastering the Old Testament)

Among all of the Old Testament books, Numbers is one that is least understood and appreciated by the contemporary reader--and communicator. Except for gleaning an occasional illustrative story, we tend to overlook Numbers for teaching, preaching, and personal study. But in this commentary by James Philip, Numbers speaks relevantly and authoritatively to the church in our time. Philip has labored intensively to help us understand the historic intricacies of Numbers. He works carefully and wisely with the text, weeding out obscure interpretations while nurturing those which best reveal the truth of Numbers. Throughout this commentary, Philip interacts with other interpreters of Numbers. In particular, he connects his own reading to the best in Reformed and Evangelical scholarship. Part of Mastering the Old Testament, a book-by-book commentary by today's great Bible teachers.
