Nurse Educator Competencies: Creating An Evidence-Based Practice For Nurse Educators is a compelling critical synthesis of the research related to educator competencies. Drawing on literature in nursing and many other fields, the authors present an analysis of the work done to date regarding each competency (e.g., facilitate learning, use assessment and evaluation strategies), draws conclusions about what we do and do not know related to that area of practice, and proposes priorities for future research related to that competency. This book grew out of the intensive work of the NLN&;s Task Group on Nurse Educator Competencies and is an essential resource for every faculty member and an invaluable source of information and insight for students in master&;s or doctoral teacher preparation programs.

Judith A. Halstead, DNS, RN, ANEF
Judith A. Halstead, PhD, RN, ANEF, FAAN, is a professor of Nursing and an executive associate dean for Academic Affairs at Indiana University School of Nursing, Indianapolis, IN. She served as the chairperson for the National League for Nursing&;s Task Group on Nurse Educator Competencies which resulted in the development of evidence-based nurse educator core competencies. Dr. Halstead is past recipient of the Midwest Nursing Research Society&;s Nursing Education Research Section Advancement of Science Award (2005) for her leadership in advancing the science of nursing education. In recognition of her accomplishments in nursing education, she was inducted as a fellow in the National League for Nursing Academy of Nursing Education in 2007 and in the American Academy of Nursing in 2011.
