About this Item
A small silver locket necklace measuring 1" x 1.25" shaped like a book with a filigree design and a caduceus tooled on the front. Slight darkening on the metal thus near fine with a strong hinge. Inside is a near fine sepia toned photograph of a uniformed nurse around 1925. The nurse is unnamed as far as we can tell, but we did not remove the photo to see if it was captioned on the verso. Although other examples of this locket exist this is the first one we've seen with a medical personnel image inside. The caduceus gained popularity as a symbol for the medical field after the US Army Medical Corps adopted it in 1902. Seller Inventory # 420176
