Forty-three years and over two million copies ago, Marilynn Doenges and Mary Moorhouse signed contracts with F.A. Davis for the very first editions of truly groundbreaking works for nurses, Nursing Care Plans and Nurse’s Pocket Guide, the first entries in a suite of titles still being published in new editions. From her days in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II that took her from East Canton, Ohio to England, Scotland, and France to care for wounded soldiers to positions in surgical, private duty, psychiatric, and school nursing. ‘Nurse Betty’s’ journey reflects the transformational history of nursing in the 20th century to which she made significant contributions as a practitioner, educator, and author. Her legacy will inspire new generations to make nursing history of their own.
