Ann Gallagher is head of health sciences and professor at Brunel University London. Ann is a registered nurse, editor-in-chief of the international journal Nursing Ethics, a Fulbright scholar and a fellow of the United Kingdom Royal College of Nursing. Ann’s career is dedicated to progress towards excellence in health and social care through education, research and scholarship. Her most recent book is Slow Ethics and the Art of Care (2020). At the time of writing, Ann was head of nursing at the University of Exeter.
Kris Deering is senior lecturer and researcher in mental health nursing. Kris is lead for evidence-based practice and for mental health nursing in the Academy of Nursing at the University of Exeter. Kris has 15 years’ experience in mental health nursing practice including a leadership role in a crisis team which informed his most recent book Inter-professional Perspectives of Mental Health Crisis: For Nurses, Health, and the Helping Professions (2022). Kris is currently researching patient-centeredness in risk management and is involved in the United Kingdom national strategy to improve risk assessment in psychiatry.
Enrico De Luca is senior lecturer and practice lead in the Academy of Nursing, University of Exeter. Enrico is a registered nurse and a qualitative/mixed methods researcher. He has an extensive clinical background in intensive care in Italy and England. Enrico’s research interests include touch studies, inter-professional education, the role of spirituality in emergency, and palliative and end-of-life care. Enrico’s PhD topic was mixed-method research on nurses’ perceptions and education on interpersonal contact during caring. He has published research findings in international nursing journals, and his most recent publications are on the themes of palliative care in emergencies during COVID and community nursing.
