This study of the Romans, Jews, and Moors in Spain up to the 13th century was the most important work issued by the Academia Valenciana which had been founded in 1742 to publish historical studies. Preceded by a long and erudite introduction by Mayans y Siscar and by the Constitutions of the Academia, Ibanez de Segovia (1628-1708) reexamines ancient records in an effort to separate fact from fiction in Spanish history.
