OCCD - Root of the Poisonous Tree: The Psychological Disorder at the Base of Addiction, Alcoholism, and More (Paperback or Softback)

Did you ever wonder why someone would go back to using drugs or alcohol after not using for months or even years? Perhaps it's a psychological disorder, something other than just the need to get high or drunk? What if this same disorder would explain why controlling boyfriends, clingy girlfriends, and ultra-strict parents are the way they are? What if this same disorder was to blame for people texting while driving?

The disorder is called Obsessive Compulsive Control Disorder and it was first referred to over 80 years ago. It can also be found at the base of Domestic Violence, Bullying, and Teen Suicide. Within this book is how this disorder was discovered, how it was narrowed down, what specifically it is, and several problems it causes, both to the person with it, and to those who are around them.

This book is the product of twelve years of research. It is also the result of over 1,500 one-on-one interviews. This book is written for those who are in recovery, but also those who live with them. It is written for friends and families to understand what that person is going through, but also what damage they have caused others beyond the obvious. It is also written for those who want to help, but feel they will be taken advantage of.

There are people who have grown up with someone with this disorder and have been adversely affected in their personal growth and development. There are those too that become instantly addicted to drugs and alcohol based on their psychological per-disposition. This disorder has both a violator as well as a victim. Some people go their whole lives wondering how to get past the baggage put on them from an abusive relationship from someone with this disorder.

Wouldn't it be nice to read a book and then to know how a loved one is using you, or intends to use you? What if one book could explain why self-help groups like Alcoholics Anonymous both fail and work? Wouldn't it be nice to explain to your child why Bullies do what they do, and have reference material to back up your statements? Wouldn't you like to have answers for how to deal with difficult people? If you said yes to any of these, then this is your book!
