About the Author
PAUL E. KRIEGER is the chief of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.'s Intellectual Property and Technology Department. A partner in the firm's Houston office, Mr. Krieger has a reputation for creating winning strategies. With more than 30 years of experience in intellectual property law, Mr. Krieger has been lead counsel in more than 50 patent, trademark and copyright lawsuits throughout the United States, and is a frequent lecturer and author on intellectual property topics to groups of attorneys and business executives in the United States, Europe and Asia. Mr. Krieger has taught the trademark and trade secret law courses at the University of Houston Law Center for the past 18 years. His professional memberships and activities include the American Bar Association; Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation; the American Intellectual Property Law Association; Life Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation; the International Association of Defense Counsel; and Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. PAUL W. FULBRIGHT was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1992 and became a registered patent attorney in 1994. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1984, his Masters in Business Administration from Baylor University in 1986, and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law School in 1992. He is currently obtaining a Master of Science in Telecommunications from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Fulbright is the principal of the Law Office of Paul W. Fulbright, PLLC, in Richardson, Texas. He was previously Of Counsel at Strasburger & Price LLP and Senior Intellectual Property Law Counsel at Nortel Networks Corporation. His practice today encompasses all aspects of securing, licensing, and litigating all forms of intellectual property for clients, large and small, in a broad cross-section of industries. Mr. Fulbright is currently a Board Member of the State Bar of Texas Intellectual Property Law Section, and lectures regularly at continuing legal education programs sponsored by the State Bar of Texas. BILL SCHUURMAN is a partner in Vinson & Elkins LLP's Austin office. Before joining Vinson & Elkins, Mr. Schuurman enjoyed a distinguished career with Arnold, White & Durkee. Mr. Schuurman has prevailed in almost every patent and trade secret case that he has litigated. Mr. Schuurman is a member of the American Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Austin Intellectual Property Law Association, Federal Bar Association, Federal Circuit Bar Association, Austin Bar Association, International Intellectual Property Law Association, and the College of the State Bar of Texas. He is a past president of the Federation of Industrial Property Attorneys, U.S. Section (FICPI) 1992-1995. He was also a FICPI Council Member from 1982 to 1995. Mr. Schuurman has been listed as a "Texas Super Lawyer" in intellectual property litigation, Texas Monthly and Law & Politics, 2003-2004, and a world-renowned patent law expert in "Euromoney's 1999 and 2003" Guide to the World's Leading Patent Law Experts. COLLIN A. ROSE focuses his practice on providing full-service intellectual property legal advice to his clients. As part of this service, Mr. Rose serves as lead counsel for various parties involved in the acquisition, disposition, licensing, and due diligence of intellectual property on a local, national, and international level. To complement this facet of his practice, Mr. Rose develops both national and international intellectual property portfolios for clients to maximize protection as well as potential derivative income. He also assists clients in their strategic planning processes, maintaining a network of clients and contacts worldwide. In addition, Mr. Rose advises corporate executives and in-house counsel in adversarial legal proceedings, provides legal opinions regarding third-party patents, and helps clients develop business plans.
