The Ohio River, called the Beautiful River by the Iroquois, is approximately 1000 miles in length, begins in Pittsburgh and ends at the Gulf, is fed by 75 tributaries, crosses seven states, and used to include 100 islands in its pathway, before the locks and dams were built.
