192 pages, illustrated in b&w and color. "Op art was not a sudden development. It grew out of the preocupations with color, form, and pictorial space which had engaged Western artists since the neo-Impressionists. It is the purpose of this book to attempt a survey of the field of optical art, to analyze its various forms technically and critically, to distinguish it from other kinds of art which it resembles, and to place it within the context of the development of modern art. This book is thus, the first detailed study of Op Art." FINE- HARDCOVER, GOOD DUST JACKET. Dust jacket protected with a clear plastic acid-free jacket. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
