Large paper copy with wide margins, uncut. Leaves foxed throughout. Good. With 4 engraved plates by Benedetto Pistrucci (1783 - 1855), concerns the empire building and life of the Byzantine emperor Justinian I, including an account of his wars against the Vandals, Persians and Theodoric the Great, King of the Ostrogoths (Gothic Wars). Also includes a description of political life at the court of Constantinople. [Justinian I, Emperor of the East, c.483-565].
