When a young orangutan wakes in his nest of leaves, his day in the rainforest begins. He swings through the canopy searching for food, visits the river below, and encounters other Borneo wildlife-some of which create great danger. At day's end, the young orangutan settles into a new nest of leaves with his mother, ready for another adventure tomorrow. Full of colorful, whimsical illustrations, the book also includes words to know, fun facts, and activities on related website.

About the Author
Rita Goldner has been a wildlife artist for many yearsand regularly visits the Phoenix Zoo to sketch and paint animals, especially the orangutans. As her interest in this beautiful species grew, she became acutely aware of their critically endangered status and threat of imminent extinction. She became passionate about doing what she could to encourage the protection of a thriving wild environment for orangutans.
With this goal in mind, Rita wrote and illustrated Orangutan: A Day in the Forest Canopy. She hopes that young readers will grow up loving and respecting orangutans and pick up the gauntlet.
