Pp. 208(last blank), numerous illustrations (several full or double page), footnotes, index; f'cap. folio; qr. light brown cloth, spine lettered and ruled in black, brown papered boards, fore-corners lightly bruised; dust wrapper, faintly soiled, edges lightly rubbed and split, backstrip lightly faded, the front flap creased; Castle Books, Secaucus, New Jersey, 1967. *A series of newspaper articles written by Frank and Miriam Leslie in 1877, together with articles written by Richard Reinhardt in 1967. Frank Leslie (born Henry Carter in 1821) was an engraver, illustrator and publisher of periodicals. With his second wife, Miriam, he travelled by train from New York to San Francisco, sending reports on the trip to the readers of Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper. The story of their 1877 trip is here interspersed with Richard Reinhardt's account of the taking the same journey in 1967.
