v+161, lists to endpapers & pastedowns; fr. endpaper has large section diagonally excised across top, verso final leaf & recto rear endpaper have ink-written list of 'Logical Terms in Arabic', which is curious (and an acceptable fault if it is one), otherwise clean, tight & unmarked; covers clean, top sp. rubbed and 1 cm. cloth-split to top back joint. Basically a textbook, the author was a Taunton-based 'Assistant Master' at the 'Independent College'. Appendices contain examples of exam papers from the London University B.A. course and a short bibliography with titles by Bain, Dewey, Jevons, Lotze, Martineau, J.S.Mill and Sully among others. 1st edition very scarce.
