A wonderful fantasy world set in the Sussex countryside, populated by characters such as Mr. Harris (later Sir Odysseus) - a wealthy rat , Meles Brock Esq., a badger, Mr. Popghose, a weasel, and the Hon. Richard William Strix Flammea de Striges, an owl, affectionately referred to as old Beak and Claws. From the finding of a pair of eyeglasses for the Hon. Richard, so he won't mistake members of the Club for his dinner, the knighting of Mr. Harris and the subsequent building of the Harris Institute, holiday celebrations, court cases, and story nights at the Club, the animals of Rotherside provide another world to escape into. Minor edge wear to boards of vols. 1, 2,& 3, light edge wear to boards and christmas gift inscription on free front endpaper of 4. Books are bright and clean. All dust jackets have light to moderate edge wear and rubbing, are price-clipped (# 4 not as neatly as the others), 3/4" dia. sticker pull on front panel of vol. 1, light wrinkling to top/bottom edges of vol.2, a few tiny nicks/closed tears/light edge wrinkling/small water mark at bottom edge to vol. 4.
