Octavo. 20cm. Bound in recent marbled paper covered boards. [viii]; 302pp. Neat, bright and sharp, very light wear; internally clean and fresh, brown endpapers, a tiny chip to the upper edge of the title page, some occasional faint spotting, and some offsetting to the rather thin paper Murray employed. A very good copy indeed. Published simultaneously with the Carpenter edition, and generally considered inferior (most likely due to the insubstantial paper which has the effect of letting the type show through from the verso in places), but rather thinner on the ground in trade and less likely to be found in a pleasing condition. A very neat little book, attractively rebound, a sort of anecdotal grab bag of quotations, fragmentary compositions and essays focussed on the leading literary works and figures of the age.
