Re-bound in Royal Marines Library binding (half vellum) and with library marks with earlier title laid down to spine. By author Clement Edmondes who was born 1566 and died 1622, this is a complete, almost certainly originally part of a larger volume by him as there is a note re page 298 at the end of this book (page 218). Believed to be 1609 edition and are observations on the first of three of Caesars commentaries. 6 fold out plates (please see photos). Two of the plates have been repaired long ago. Some inevitable edge creasing to plates. The book has other minor marginal notes, possibly in shorthand. Intriguing manuscript notes e.g. "1807 16 July HMS Ardent on passage to St. Helena" (page 82). "31st July 1807 St. Helena" (page 64). The half vellum binding is good and tight and presents well. A uniquely collectable item.
