Obsession in the Shadows

He noticed her on her first day. She should have wondered why.

Emily Carter takes the executive assistant job at Stone Enterprises because it is the opportunity she has been waiting for. Luca Stone is everything the rumours said — magnetic, exacting, impossible to read. When his attention settles on her, it feels like being chosen.

It takes her a while to understand that being chosen is not the same as being safe.

Because Luca watches. He knows which coffee shop she uses. He knows who she talks to and what she said. And there is a locked room in his house containing photographs of a woman who died in a car accident, and letters signed with a name that is not his.

Everyone tells her to leave. Sarah, who has worked at Stone Enterprises long enough to recognise the pattern. An anonymous number that texts you have no idea what you're getting into. Emily hears them and stays anyway, and the book is honest about why — because the attention is intoxicating before it is frightening, and by the time she can tell the difference she is already inside it.

Obsession in the Shadows is a slow-burn workplace thriller about the space between devotion and control, and about a woman who has to decide whether the man who would burn down the world for her is the man she needs protecting from.

Book One of the Stone Enterprises series.
