Oburoni and Other Stories

What does it mean to be different, to belong, to begin again-and to find meaning in the unexpected moments of life?

In Oburoni and Other Stories, Andrew Rees brings together twelve engaging stories that explore the experiences, challenges, and emotions that connect us all.

From Ghana and the experience of being welcomed in a place far from home to family relationships, difficult choices, new beginnings, workplace struggles, and unexpected loss, these stories move through the many faces of ordinary life.

Meet people searching for work, adapting to change, reconnecting with family, drawing on expertise, facing difficult circumstances, and discovering that life rarely follows the path we expect.

At the heart of the collection are themes of belonging, adaptation, family, loss, strength, searching, and human connection.

Some stories will make you smile. Others may leave you thinking long after you have finished them. Together, they capture the highs and lows of life-the moments of joy and sorrow, uncertainty and discovery that make us human.

Thoughtful, varied, and deeply human, Oburoni and Other Stories is a collection for readers who enjoy literary short fiction that reflects on life, people, and the experiences we share.
