First edition. 288pp. Illustrated with engraved plates. Red cloth boards, the front board elaborately decorated with gilt, the rear board repeats the design in blind with the three figures in the center in gilt, gilt decorated spine, all page edges gilt, and glossy off-white endpapers. Boards and spine show light sings of wear, else near fine. All the plates are present but there's a disagreement between the list of "Embellishments" following the Table of Content and the printed title of the final plate. The list prints the last plate as being titled, "The Point of Doctrine," while the last plate bares the title, "The Point of Argument.".
