The complete works of J.-K. Huysman, novelist and art critic in eighteen volumes. Limited edition of 1,500. Of the 18 books, 17 are marked issue no. 752 and one (vol. V) with the number: 760. Included are all of his published novels e.g. Les Soeurs Vatards (v. III), A Rebours (v. viii, in English: Against the Grain); as well as his works of art criticism (e.g. v. VI on L'Art Moderne). The information (below and elsewhere in this listing) generally refers to volume one; unless stated otherwise. This is on the basis that it is more or less indicative of the whole set; both in terms of approach, typography and condition. Further information, publisher details, pagination, photos etc about the other volumes is, of course, available on request. As one might anticipate, volume one features an introduction (by M. Lucien Descaves - pp. i-xxix). Printed on Navarre laid paper. Protected by tracing paper coverings. Elegant black and red text title page (image), which also includes a b/w engraving of the Eglise Saint Romain, Rue De Sèvres, Paris (we are led to believe…). Uncut edges; including the book's paper covers which have folding flaps. (Paper caliper/thickness of the latter looks/feels greater than that for the rest of the book's pages). Condition (external): both the protective covering and the covers are moderately tanned - see images. The tanning continues internally - moderate tanning, occasional spotting with the text and headings remaining largely clean and crisp. Vol. I: pp. I-xxix, 253/145 x 205 mm.
