Two folding plates to volumes XIII.Thirteen, A-N (No 'J')folding plates to the rear of volume XV. Therefore thirty-five plates in total. In the original French. With the armorial bookplate of one John Barton to front pastedown of majority of volumes, to the rear pastedown of a few. Jean-Jacques Rousseau was an 18th century Genevan philosopher, writer and composer.His political philosophy influenced the French enlightenment as well as the European enlightenment. In uniform quarter morocco with marbled paper-covered boards. Externally, generally smart with slight rubbing to the head and tail of spines and to extremities. Small patches of light rubbing to the paper-covered boards. Hinges to volume V are slightly strained but firm. The front hinge to volumes IX, X, XIX, and XXI are slightly strained but firm. Prior owner's bookplate to front pastedowns, John Barton. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are slightly age-toned with instances of scattered spotting throughout.
