About this Item

This is a two volume set of the works of J. Racine. Two of original four volumes. Jean Racine was a French dramatist considered one of the three great playwrights of 17th century France, and an important literary figure in Western tradition. Racine was primarily a tragedian although he did write one comedy Les Plaideurs. In quarter morocco bindings with cloth boards. Externally, rubbed with bumping to extremities. Boards sunned with some dampstaining and handling marks. Joints starting to Volume 4. Front joint cracked to volume 3. Wear to head and tail of spine. Hinges strained. Ex Libris plate to pastedowns reading Library of Joseph M Cleason. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean aside from occasional patch of spotting. Good Only.
