About this title

Synopsis

This devotional volume assembles liturgical offices for Holy Week and Easter, providing guided Matins, prayers before Matins, and a sequence of Proper Lessons for Palm Sunday through Easter, along with meditations and prayers on the Passion. It compiles extensive liturgical material, including litany texts for the Passion and Resurrection, nocturns, and a broad array of hymns and prayers. Drawing on patristic authorities such as Bede, Chrysostom, Pearson, Andrewes, and Leo, the work presents a historically Anglican devotional framework, reflecting post-Reformation editorial practice. This edition offers scholars and readers a window into the liturgical practices and meditative prayer surrounding Holy Week and Easter.
