This profile of "a year in the life of America's biggest campus" is confined to the 1987-88 academic year and contains both monthly chronologies and descriptive chapters. From September through September significant, interesting, unusual, and trivial events are discussed in varying length and depth. The alternating chapters, covering a broad range of topics, explore the accomplishments, problems, responsibilities, and personalities of administrators, faculty, students, and staff. The book's major drawback is it's organization. Alternating unnumbered and numbered chapters and their separate formats result in discussions which are fragmented and somewhat disjointed. The lack of a table of contents and references compounds the problem. Photographs or illustrations would have been a welcome addition. This book may be of interest to Ohio State constituents, but for most libraries it is optional.
