The Oil Oracle

The Oil Oracle: A Haunting Tale of Visions and Memory
By J.T. Marrow
In the misty coastal town of Brookings, Oregon, art restorer Claire uncovers a chilling secret hidden within a forgotten painting. Purchased from a shadowy antique shop, the artwork depicts a veiled woman with glowing eyes that seem to follow her every move. But when the painting begins to reveal prophetic visions—saving a child from a burning building, exposing an art theft ring—it comes at a devastating cost: each vision erases a piece of Claire’s memories, unraveling her past and her sense of self.
As skeletal handprints appear on her walls and reality warps around her, Claire teams up with Ethan, a skeptical journalist, to trace the painting’s origins to a 19th-century cult, the Order of the Veiled Oracle, obsessed with manipulating fate. The visions escalate, foretelling a catastrophic gas explosion that threatens Brookings, forcing Claire to confront the painting’s malevolent power. Haunted by fragmented memories and the specter of her own past, she must decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice to stop the impending disaster.
A gripping blend of supernatural horror and psychological suspense, The Oil Oracle explores the perilous cost of foresight and the fragility of identity. Perfect for readers who crave a chilling, atmospheric thriller with echoes of Poe and Lovecraft.
